Panchakarma Panchakarma an integral part of Ayurveda literary means five actions to eliminate the toxic elements from the body so as to purify. Five Actions of Panchakarma Treatment

The Panchakarma is based on the elimination theory of harmful substances and was developed in the Ayurveda school of India. The famed erstwhile physician of ancient India Charaka and Sushurta emancipated five types of therapies called Nasya, Vamana, Virechana, Vasti, and Raktamokshana.

Nasya - This Ayurvedic process is also known as Nasal therapy, and is an effective method for bumping harmful toxins, as well as Kapha from the nose, sinus, throat, head, teeth and other organs. The process is very efficient for improving connections between the senses and is a strict no people suffering from indigestion, mental shock, pregnancy, and thirst.

Vamana – The process is popularly known as emesis or vomiting therapy to alleviate all harmful substances. It eliminates the impaired Kapha through the oral routes as the unwanted materials are expelled out through emesis therapy.

This is really essential for people suffering from nasal disorders, tuberculosis, bronchitis, asthma, diabetes, poor digestion, anorexia, dyspepsia, inflammation of lymph glands, epilepsy, insanity, edema, obesity, heart diseases and pangeutis.

Virechana – The method is also known as purging therapy and controls the pitta issues. It gathers toxins from various pitta locations in the body into the small intestine and then discharges it.

The process is good for all Pitta related disorders such as hyperacidity, colitis, acid peptic disease, hemorrhoids, chronic headaches, migraine, malabsorption, some types of diabetes, allergies and skin diseases (acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, leprosy, and leucoderma).

Vasti – The procedure is also known as enema therapy and is the most effective treatment for perturbed vata. It renovates the colon and therein purifies the complete body to gain control over bodily disease leaving a purified body. It helps in increasing longevity.

Raktamokshana – The method is also known as bloodletting but it is no longer popular however, leeching is still practiced and widely accepted. The main objective of bloodletting is to eradicate all toxins from the blood stream to prevent stubborn skin diseases, tumors, gout, excessive drowsiness, alopecia, hallucinations and enlarged liver & spleen.

The aim of Panchakarma is to remove the root cause of the disease so as to ensure a complete cure. The practitioners also believe that Panchakarma applied to a healthy person act as a rejuvenating therapy and is a must for a healthy life.
